Trace a Mobile Phone Number
Filed Under Communications | Leave a Comment
There are lots of times in our lives when we may want to trace a mobile phone number.
Perhaps you’ve been receiving prank calls at all hours of the night. Or maybe your children are being harassed by school bullies who call their mobile phone to threaten them.
Maybe your elderly parents have been receiving suspicious phone calls and you think a con artist may be trying to sucker them out of their money. Or perhaps a telemarketer keeps calling again and again even after you’ve told them to stop. Or maybe your boyfriend or husband has been getting calls from an unfamiliar number and he claims he doesn’t know who it belongs to. Could it be his secret lover?
Whatever your exact reasons and motivations may be, the best way to put a stop to these types of unwelcome phone calls is with a reverse number lookup. Reverse lookups allow you to find out personal details about the owner of any phone number. When you sign up for a reverse lookup service and start running searches you’ll receive all sorts of information about the owner of the phone line including:
Their name
Their address
Any previous addresses
Details on their phone line status and connection
Details about their neighbors and relatives
Details on their income and home value
A map to their location
Just think about helpful this information can be to you. You can immediately find out who has been making prank phone calls and make them stop. You can determine if the person calling your parents is really who he claims to be. And you can put your mind to rest that your husband isn’t cheating on you after all.
Obviously you can see how valuable a reverse number lookup service can be. Now let’s talk about how you can go about tracing numbers yourself at home.
That’s right, you can do it yourself right from home. There’s no need for an expensive private investigator. All you need is a computer with an internet connection and you’re ready to go.
Simply go to a website that offers reverse number searches, enter your number and hit search. In just seconds you’ll receive a full report with all sorts of identifying information.
Now there are some services that let you run reverse lookups for free, but I’d be careful with them. Remember the old saying, “You get what you pay for.” Free reverse directories often give you inaccurate or outdated results. Sometimes their reports give you information that is years old and that will only send you on a wild goose chase with incorrect information.
You’re much better off signing up for a paid reverse phone directory. They only cost a few bucks and once you’re a member you can run as many searches as you want. And not only are they more accurate but they guarantee their results. Paid directories are continuously updated so that inaccurate listings are deleted. This takes time and costs money, which is why they can’t offer the service for free.
Another benefit of signing up for a paid directory is the ability to trace a mobile phone number. The free directories only have access to standard landline numbers, so if the number you need details on is a mobile number they’re useless.

You can conduct a reverse phone search for free if you want to identify the name of the person who owns a particular number. These numbers can be either from a mysterious prank caller or a business associate whose number is registered in your phone as a missed call.
There are several ways of finding out all the information related to a phone number and it includes the yellow pages, several public records, and the World Wide Web. The yellow page can be very useful if you want to find the number of a particular person because the names are alphabetized and classified according to their residence. However, if you have to do it the other way around (i.e. look for a name basing from the number, hence the word ‘reverse’), it can take you forever to read all the numbers. It can also be very frustrating to search through public records because they are usually very difficult to access and they require several paper works and much of your time just to look for a single piece of information.
It is best if you use the internet to conduct a reverse phone search for free. There are several sites that provide free searching services for both cell phones and landlines. You will just have to go to a specific search engine of your choice and enter the number that you want to search about. The site will search for its database and matches the number to a particular person, address and other pertinent information that may be included.
However, there are those search websites that claim to be free, but when you actually access their site, you will be directed to another website that will ask you to pay for a certain fee before you can retrieve the information that you need. Some will also offer you to avail of their services for a year by paying for a membership fee.
There are several ways for you to perform a reverse phone search for free. Just be careful in accessing other websites that offer a reverse phone search for free but will actually ask you to pay before you can get what you need.

You have heard about VOIP, but you have no idea what it is. Is this just another telephone carrier that has come along since the breakup of AT&T many years ago? Well, that is part of it, but this is another step further along as this system directly relies on the internet.
So, what is VOIP? It is Voice over Internet Protocol, a way of routing voice conversations using the internet or any other IP-based system as you continue using a regular telephone instrument. Okay, but how does it work? Can you be working on your computer and talk at the same time? Is there special equipment you need?
There are several companies that provide VOIP service. There is a cost savings because you have a single network to do everything-it carries both voice and data and on the same internet lines. If you have the right company that can carry both the voice and data lines together, there might be no additional cost to combine these two features.
The VOIP telephone system can help by automatically routing incoming telephone calls to your VOIP phone, regardless of whether or not you are connected to the network. You can take you phone with you on a trip and whenever you connect to the Internet you can accept incoming calls.
You can get free telephone numbers for use in some countries. People using this system can work anywhere as long as there is a sufficiently fast and stable Internet connection available to them. Like your other telephone system, you can usually get 3-way calling, call forwarding, automatic redial, and even caller ID.
So, is this system right for you? There are definitely advantages and as with all systems, some disadvantages. How do you choose? That depends and you should do some extensive research to make sure that the VOIP telephone system will work for you.
Well, you might actually be using a VOIP system at your office and not know it. The VOIP telephone systems have offered businesses high-powered telecommunications capabilities once available only to the largest, most expensive companies’ systems.
Today, advanced VOIP solutions enable all employees, whether they are down the hall or a thousand miles away, to respond rapidly to customers and business opportunities by allowing their phones and computers to integrate into one seamless system.
Check with your telecommunications people in your organization as they can tell you whether or not you are already using the system through work. They will also be very knowledgeable about the positive and negative components of the VOIP system and will probably be able and willing to talk to you extensively about their experiences with it. Remember, they are the people in your organization that must keep the computers and telephones up and operational for the company.
So, what do you think? Do you want to take the plunge and try the VOIP telephone system? Go ahead and take a chance if you think it will work for you. If it does not, you can always change back to a regular telephone.

What is a Softphone?
Filed Under Communications | Leave a Comment
Softphone is short for Software Phone, which means that it is a computer program that you install on your PC which behaves like a telephone. Instead of a handset, you use headphones and a microphone attached to your computer.
There are many different types of Softphones. Before choosing which type of softphone you want to use, you need to decide on what VOIP service provider you are going to use. This depends on how much you are prepared to pay a month (if anything), and the quality of service which you would like. It also depends on how many phone calls you are going to want to make outside of the VOIP system (such as to normal standard telephone lines), the country in which you live in and the countries in which you want to be able to make calls to.
Many service providers allows you to register for a free subscription, which will allow you to talk to other subscribers for free. In order to be able to use your Softphone to dial normal telephone numbers, however, you will need to obtain a paid subscription.
Once you have a subscription, you can download one of many free Softphones. There are a few different protocols, which Softphones use to operate, such as SIP and IAX. You will need to ensure that the Softphone you download uses the same protocol as your VOIP service provider.
Once you have both a VOIP service provider and a Softphone installed on your computer, not to mention a good broadband connection, you will be in a position to make both free and low-cost telephone calls.

Find People Using Phone Number
Filed Under Communications | Leave a Comment
Maybe you are not aware that you can find people using phone number. With advance technology and continuous development on the use of internet, it is possible now to access important information and learn the background of any person using their phone number. You can find the owner of a mysterious phone number as well as the address, criminal records, relatives and other important information using a reverse phone number search.
You have a lot of options in conducting reverse phone search to find people using phone number. It depends on your needs and how detailed the information you want to be. Of course most people will try free services. While free services are easy to access over the internet, you will only find very limited information on free searches.
If you want to find people using phone number on free services, it will only provide you with very basic or general information on limited phone numbers. If you need in-depth information about any phone number to know the background of the owner, free searches cannot provide you the information you need.
Most free reverse phone services can only give you limited information on land line numbers but will show no results on mobile numbers, unlisted numbers or VoIP numbers. If you want to find people using phone number, you have to use services that accommodate both land line and cell phone numbers.
Another big problem on free searches is that most of their databases are not updated. There is no guarantee that you will get the desired information because their data could no longer be accurate and you will be frustrated with your search.
A more effective way to find people using phone number is through a paid reverse phone search service. Fortunately there is a service which is affordable and accurate like Reverse Phone Detective. Using their service you will find results in almost any phone number or else you will get your money back. It will provide you millions of records from its updated database for a one time membership fee.
With Reverse Phone Detective, you can access more detailed information and find people using phone number. Members can access millions of public records through its expanded people search and investigation databases.

Things You Should Think About When Considering Ditching Your Land Line.
In the early part of the 20th century, a phone in the house was considered to be a luxury. Fast forward to the 21st century, and a home phone is sometimes considered a liability. Among 20-somethings, home phones are no longer fashionable. These enterprising young people have opted to rip out their phone cords and go completely cellular. It’s not surprising, considering the fact that cell phones are considered to be a mandatory accessory for many young professionals, while land lines are often thought to be an antiquated, unnecessary expense.
The Cost Factor
Initially, a cell phone can be a costly investment. While you may receive a free phone, chances are you’ll have to pay for a more advanced model. If you end up going over your allotted number of minutes, you could end up paying handsomely.
Yet, there are distinct cost advantages associated with wireless phones. Not having to pay for long-distance calls can save you big money. Also, free nighttime minutes can allow you to talk with your mother, father, or other out-of-state relatives at length without paying an additional fee. By consolidating your phone bill and eliminating your land line, you could probably save, at the minimum, about $25 a month. That’s $25 you could spend on restaurant meals, movies, or trips to museums.
Portability
While home phones are certainly convenient when you are at your apartment or house, they do you absolutely no good when you’re out on the road. At such times, a cell phone is your best option. Therefore, if you’re left with a choice between having a cell phone or a home phone, you might choose the cell simply for convenience sake. Also, a cell phone may be the best security device you’ll ever have. If you’re walking home alone and you spot a suspicious-looking person coming toward you, you can simply whip out your cell phone and the police will arrive on the scene in a matter of minutes. It’s been shown that women in particular feel more secure with a cell phone in their handbag.
Call Screening
With the typical land line plan, you have to pay extra for such features as caller ID and voice mail. Such additional fees can quickly add up, making your home phone bill unmanageable. However, caller ID and voice mail are standard equipment on cell phones, enabling you to manage calls easily and efficiently. With a cell phone in your pocket or purse, you never have to worry about missing an important call again.
Pulling the Plug on Telemarketing
One of the major disadvantages of a home phone is the constant barrage of telemarketing calls you receive. Such calls inevitably occur right around dinner time, interrupting your schedule and leaving you frustrated and irritated. With a cell phone, however, you will be freed from such interruptions. Therefore, you won’t have to worry about the “spam calls” that could plague you at home.
An Easy Transfer
You should be aware of the fact that transferring your home phone number to your cell phone is a relatively simple, painless procedure. Of course, you’ll need to check with your cell phone provider first, but most major companies-including Verizon and Sprint-allow such local number portability.
The Time Factor
Once you obtained your cell phone, you might have wondered how you ever lived without it. You might have found it to be invaluable in keeping in touch with your spouse, your children, your parents, and other significant people in your life. If you’re a person who is constantly “on the go,” you might have also found that you used your cell phone more than your home phone. This may be reason enough for you to eliminate a land line from your home. The old-fashioned line may simply not be as useful as a cell phone.
Chief Disadvantage to Abandoning Your Home Phone
Of course, there are some disadvantages to dropping your land line in favor of a cellphone. The sound quality found in cell phones may not be as good as you’ll find on land lines. In fact, your cell phone reception inside your home may be quite poor. As a result, it’s a wise idea to check your reception before you take the serious step of cutting your land line. It’s been said that cell phones are simply not as reliable as land lines. Also, you need to keep your cell phone constantly charged, or you could be in serious trouble. Consequently, if an emergency should strike, you could regret cutting out your home phone service-particularly if you have children in your home. You don’t want your kids to be home alone with no phone in case there’s a fire or other crisis.
Also, with a cellular phone, your number is automatically unlisted. This could be a disadvantage if a long-lost friend is trying to track you down. If you want to remain completely accessible, it’s best to couple your cell phone with a land line. This is because phone companies do not print cell numbers in their phone books.
If you decide to use a cellphone exclusively and you have children, you may find it necessary to monitor their phone usage much more than you would with a land line. That’s because, once your family has reached your monthly limit of minutes, you’ll be paying an outrageous sum for every call your child makes. Therefore, if you don’t want to assume the role of phone police, you might consider keeping your land line for the time being.
Final Thoughts
You’ll have to do a great deal of deliberating before you decide whether or not to get rid of your land line. After all, there are a number of factors to consider-financial, technical, and social. Obviously, there are pluses and minuses to land line service and you’ll have to determine whether the disadvantages outweigh the benefits. Of course, keep in mind that, if you decide to cut home service and find that it just doesn’t work out, you can always have your service reconnected. So, you can make your final decision with confidence, knowing that things will work out in the end.

Magic Jack – How to Make Free International Phone Calls
Filed Under Communications | Leave a Comment
Different phone service providers allow you to make certain number of calls free of cost if you opt for certain plans. As you pay a monthly rental for phone service, free calls are charged in your monthly charges as somewhat cheaper rates. Once the number of free calls is used, you start paying for the calls at regular rates.
An easy way to make free calls is to dial 18003733411 from any US landline. From cell phones it is charged at local rates. Listen to the operator’s voice which asks you to select one of the free services. The last option is ‘free call’. Do not press any button; just say ‘free call’ loudly and you will be connected to make an international free call. Just listen to the Ads for a few seconds. As soon as the ad stops playing; dial the international number in standard format (country code+city code+ phone number). You will be connected and you can talk up to 5 minutes after which the call will be disconnected.
There are various other ways to make free phone calls. One of the most popular and the easiest ways to call international numbers free of cost is to use VoIP services. This is technology that uses internet to send voice messages. As it uses internet, you must be logged onto your PC with high speed internet. If the calling party is also using the same service like Skype, yahoo messenger etc; the calls are completely free of cost.
However if the other party is not logged onto a PC; you need to pay some charges to access the phone network. This is a lot cheaper than a normal phone call. There are a few devices like Magic jack that makes this process even easier and cheaper.
These devices have recently become very popular because they give you the flexibility of making free phone calls from anywhere. You get a free US number that can be used to make local as well as international calls. A unique feature of these devices is that calls to US and Canada are absolutely free no matter where you are. Moreover unlike traditional VoIP calls, you need not install any software on a particular PC. Just Plug the device to any PC that is connected to high speed internet and you are ready to make free internet phone calls. You can save thousands of dollars on phone bills by using these simple pocket sized devices.

Whether it’s a cell phone or a land line, you can trace back a phone number on your own, and find out where the call is coming from.
If you are receiving annoying call, prank calls, or mysterious numbers are popping up on your phone, you can trace them back and find out where the origin of the calls are coming from, and the persons name who is placing them.
There are also very positive benefits to tracing back a call. It very well could be an old girlfriend or boyfriend trying to get hold of you but to embarrassed to leave a message.
On the other hand it could be an enemy or telemarketing company who is continually harassing you. In any event, you can now remove the mystery from those odd phone numbers by finding out where the call is coming from and who is making the calls.
How to trace back the phone number:
There are now programs on the internet where you can simply type in the mysterious cell phone number and then get a return name and even address of where the call is coming from. Whether it’s a land line, another cell phone, or even an “unlisted number”, reverse cell phone look up programs can trace back the number and find the origin of the caller.
Usually these services will require a fee, but it’s a great tool to have and re-use again and again whenever a mysterious or unrecognizable phone number comes up. Plus the information you get from tracing back a number will include everything from full names to actual addresses of where the calls are coming from.

Greatly Reduce your Landline Costs
Filed Under Communications | Leave a Comment
How much are you spending on your landline phone charges every month? Are you paying more than you’d like to?
Well if you have a home-based or a small business, then Skype might be an excellent way to greatly minimize your monthly phone costs.
Never heard of Skype before? Well Skype is a software that let’s you make free phone calls over your computer to anyone else with a Skype account, anywhere in the world. All you need is a computer and microphone and your normal computer speakers to act as your telephone. And if the other person does not have Skype, that’s not a problem, you will pay an extremely small per minute fee to call outside of your country. Currently all phone calls to landlines and cell phones within the US and Canada are 100% free at least until the end of this year.
Skype is available in 27 languages and is used in almost every country around the world. Skype generates revenue through its premium offerings such as making and receiving calls to and from landline and mobile phones, as well as voicemail and call forwarding. Skype, based in Luxembourg, has relationships with a growing network of hardware and software providers and is an eBay company (NASDAQ: EBAY).
In order to use Skype, all you need to do is download the software to your computer and complete a simple setup process. You can call anyone else on Skype, anywhere in the world for free. And you’ll always be able to do that. Not only can you use Skype to make phone calls but you can also use Skype to Instant Message your friends and business contacts. There are some other useful things you can do on Skype that aren’t free (but they’re pretty cheap, actually).
SkypeIn – This is a cool feature that lets you receive your own special telephone number to be able to receive phone calls directly to your Skype account. When you enable this feature, your business contacts can call your number and your Skype program will ring directly on your computer. With a simple click of the mouse, you can answer the call and talk directly over your microphone and computer speakers. The quality on Skype is excellent. Also, if you do a lot of business, in let’s say New York, then you can get a local NY telephone number so your clients do no incur long distance charges. A SkypIn telephone number is only $39 per year.
SkypeOut – You can call any telephone number in the U.S. and Canada for free. And Skype has very reasonable charges for calls made to non-Skype phones in foreign countries through SkypeOut. International per-minute charges vary by country, but they start at under 2 cents. For a complete list of international rates, click here.
SkypeVoicemail – If you are not around when someone call on Skype, then this feature will allow your account to receive and store voice-mail messages. You can check your messages when you return to the office. This feature is free when you purchase a SkypeIn number for $39 or can be purchased separately for an annual cost of $19.
You can also your Skype account from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Last week I was in the Dominican Republic on business and went to the Internet lab to check my email. I noticed they had Skype downloaded on their lab computers, so I simply logged into my Skype account and called my business partner at our office in New Jersey. For a 20 minute call to the US, it cost me less than $2… that is unheard of.
I think Skype is great. Check it out for yourself.

VOIP Considerations
Filed Under Communications | Leave a Comment
Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is changing the way that we look at phone service. The relatively new technology is quickly becoming the norm in many homes across the world. But a variety of VOIP considerations should be explored before you take advantage of the technology.
It allows a caller to make long distance calls without having to pay much, or anything for them. Combine the VOIP technology with a broadband, or high speed, internet access line, and VOIP provides an easy, inexpensive way to make phone calls all over the world. However, there are still some disadvantages of VOIP – especially when it comes to using the technology for functions beyond the one caller to one caller scenario.
VOIP considerations for you to examine start with understanding how the technology works in comparison with traditional phone service. With traditional phone service, your long distance phone calls are routed from your local provider’s network to your chosen long distance provider’s network, where it is routed to the receiving party’s local phone provider’s network and finally, to their home phone line. Since multiple providers are involved, multiple providers charged a fee for the call, which the long distance provider passed on to you in the form of an often hefty per-minute charge.
But VOIP has changed all of that. It removes the long distance company from the equation, making a long distance phone call virtually the same as a local phone call. How? By using the internet as the routing method that passes the call from your local phone provider to your receiving party’s local phone provider. You initiate the call, and your analog voice signal is translated into a digital signal. That signal is then sent via your internet service to the internet, where it is routed to the receiving party’s local phone provider’s network, translated back into an analog signal and sent to the receiving party’s phone.
The disadvantages of VOIP should be part of what you understand regarding VOIP considerations, but they are relatively limited for the average consumer. The main complaints regarding VOIP have to do with providing the level of quality of service that customers are accustomed to with regular telephone technology.
The reason for this is multifold. VOIP requires a large amount of data to be compressed and transmitted, then uncompressed and delivered, all in a relatively small amount of time. Problems develop in VOIP conversations when this process takes too long and the callers experience one of two problems; echo or over-talk.
For businesses, VOIP considerations have more to do with how to manage the traffic over their network. Since they may be using their bandwidth for internet and even voice conferencing, they will need to analyze the amount of bandwidth that is necessary to handle all of their activities.
But for the average consumer, the greatest advantage of VOIP is the cost – or rather, the lack of cost. If you have a computer with a sound card, modem, speakers, a microphone and a (preferably) high speed connection, and you download software from companies such as skype.com, you can be making free long distance and international phone calls using VOIP in as little as 5 minutes.
